The Amsterdam Travel Guide

Amsterdam, the Netherlands

The trip you can actually plan from your desk.

Every figure on this site is checked against the operator that charges it, on a date printed next to the table. When the sources disagree, we publish the disagreement instead of picking the number that reads best.

What this site is for

Most Amsterdam guides agree with each other because they copy each other. This one starts from the departure board, the ticket page and the operator's own checkout, and prints what it found.

The rule this site runs on

Primary source or it does not get published. Every price, time and opening hour comes from the company or the institution that sets it, never from another guide. If a competitor gives a number we cannot reproduce, we say that they give it and that we have not verified it.

That sounds obvious and almost nobody does it. The most common Amsterdam figures on the web have been copied from guide to guide for years without anyone checking them again. When you go and measure them, the sources stop agreeing.

What is here right now

Nothing yet, and saying so is more useful than pretending otherwise. The site went live today. The first guide, on when to visit Amsterdam, is being researched and will be published with its sources and the date each one was consulted.

If you want to know what gets verified and what does not before you trust anything here, that is written down on the how we verify page.
